The following instructions are for people who are involved in Bandon Farmer’s Market and wish to write content for the blog. Content can be anything like news, special offers, products, new people, observations etc. Anything about the market really.
These instructions look long but most of them are pretty obvious. Note that you need an email address to be an author. if you don’t have one, please contact one of the market organisers and I can set you up with an account on Google GMail which is the best of the free email systems.
The first step is to send me your email address to cwjoneill at gmail dot com
I will carry out the first few steps for you and you will receive an email that looks something like this:
Click on the link in the email and it will open a web-browser and send you to the wordpress.com site where you will see a screen that looks like this:
Write down your username and password.
Click on the “Login” link and enter your username and password as requested (and click “Remember me” so you should not have to do this again).
You should check your email again and it should also contain a new message with your username and password.
Send me a mail telling me that you have got to this point and I can now add you to the Blog as an author.
Once I do this, you’ll get yet another email that looks like the following:
Click on the link and a web browser window will open bringing you to the main Bandon Farmer’s market Blog page.
At the top of the screen you should see a link saying “New Post”. Click it and you’ll get a screen like the following:
Think of something to write about, pick a category for it, give it a title, write your thoughts and click “Publish”.
You have now made your first blog post!
If you want any new categories, just let me know. I think one category per vendor is a good idea in any case.
Don’t worry about posting stuff by mistake or having typos and feel free to post silly stuff to test the system out.
It is very easy to remove afterwards.
