New Site for Bandon Farmer’s Market

This blog is now deprecated in favour of a new site at Bandon Farmer’s Market. Lots of useful information there.

Farmer’s Market still regular

Just to let all the customers of Bandon Farmer’s Market know, it continues to be held every Saturday from 10am-2pm in the carpark of the Spar supermarket.

Why a blog?

We accidentally had comments open on one of the permanent pages and received quite a critical comment from an anonymous person who did not like the idea of a blog rather than a “professionally” designed web-site. Unfortunately, when we turned off comments on that page, their comment and the reply were no longer visible. I’ll quote the important part of it here from the “ex-Microsoft professional” along with the reply:

My ex-boss would not be impressed with BLOG!!
……. and Blogging is for my 7 year son.

The reply I gave is as follows. Comments on this are of course welcome.

As an ex-Microsoft professional you’ve probably heard of Robert Scoble and his book “Naked Conversations” which I am reading right now. Two quotes from it caught my eye today:

Bill Gates, Chairman, referring to blogging in Microsoft: “You are letting people have a sense of the people here. You’re building a connection. People feel more part of this. Maybe they’ll tell us how we can better improve our products”

Steve Ballmer, CEO: “I think it is a great way for us to communicate to our customers and for customers, more importantly, to communicate with us”.

The reason standard static web sites are being replaced more and more by blogs is that it allows conversations to occur beyond physical boundaries and enables non-technical people to easily publish without the need for “professional” middle men.

The hope is that this blog will reflect the authentic voices of the market across the entire week rather than just Saturdays. It allows those who would love to come to find out what has happened and what will be happening wherever they are. Whilst that is possible with a traditional site, it requires far more effort from all involved.

Market on Tomorrow

The next market is on tomorrow in the usual place. 10am to 2pm as always, rain or shine.

Cork Coffee Roasters Update

Cork Coffee Roasters is now logged into the ever growing Bandon farmers market blog.

We will see you all next Saturday with out fresh roasted coffee blends from our 1930 traditional coffee roaster. It’s the way coffee likes to be roasted, come try it and see for yourself.

WE WILL BE THERE, the weather will not deter our determination to provide the people what they want .

Subscribe to updates by e-mail

We’ve just enabled the “subscribe by email feature” on the blog. This means that any time there is a new post on the front page of the blog, you will be sent an e-mail that day with the contents. It saves having to revisit the site all the time just to check if there is anything new. All you have to do is click on the new link over there on the right hand side of the page and you’ll be sent to a sign-up page over at Feedburner.
